DESCRIPTION:Despite its growing importance\, digital youth work is still fragmented\, sitting between various disciplines and often divided between policy papers and academic research. Together\, we will reflect on my early analysis of the field and work towards co-mapping existing research to create a more visible and unified presence. \n\n\n\nThis workshop is an opportunity for us to start a journey of mutual understanding. We’ll discuss how/if we can ensure digital youth work serves the sector’s needs while also carving out a space for itself within academic discourse. DESCRIPTION:Screenshot of Zofia’s documentation of her cycling journey on Instagram. \n\n\n\nLed by Zofia Kuligowska\, an artist\, PhD candidate\, and neurodivergent mother\, this seminar invites attendees to explore an interdisciplinary journey of language\, neurodiversity\, and creative practice. Zofia’s work centers around performance art and language\, with a focus on how neurodivergent individuals engage with language as a tool for creative expression. Diagnosed with autism in adulthood\, Zofia brings a personal and professional lens to her artistic research\, combining auto-ethnographic methods with collaborative practices. \n\n\n\nThe seminar is based on Zofia’s cycling research journey\, in which she will cycle from Sokołowsko\, Poland\, to Dublin\, Ireland\, in September 2024. This journey builds upon a 2012 trip and now serves as a method for both artistic exploration and networking with neurodivergent artists across Europe. \n\n\n\nTopics will include: \n\n\n\n\nHow neurodivergent individuals engage with language beyond its communicative functions.\n\n\n\nThe issues neurodivergent women face in society\, particularly in relation to artistic expression and diagnosis.\n\n\n\nThe impact of language as a force and how artists use this in their work.\n\n\n\n\nZofia will also discuss her goal of co-creating collaborative\, language-based artworks with fellow neurodiverse artists\, drawing from their experiences and interactions across different countries. She has a particular interest in Hiberno-English\, a linguistic phenomenon in Ireland\, which is home to many renowned literary works. \n\n\n\nThis session is open to researchers\, artists\, and anyone interested in neurodiversity\, language\, and arts. SUMMARY:Sustaining Healing Technologies Within and Beyond the Digital
DESCRIPTION:Led by multimedia poet Samiir Saunders in collaboration with MAIA \n\n\n\n\nMAIA is a Black-led\, Art and Social Justice organisation based in Birmingham\, UK. Their work explores art and culture as strategy for liberation. MAIA works in community through the creation of spaces\, public programmes and resources with the Black imagination as a starting point. \n\n\n\n\nThis 3-hour workshop will introduce and discuss concept of digital equity and the interconnected factors (social\,economic\, cultural) which affect it. Following a practical demonstration on using free audio (Audacity) and video (Olive) software\, participants will discuss how diverse identities\, backgrounds\, and experiences might affect one’s access\, safety\, and literacy within digital spaces\, as well as the kinds of barriers that might contribute to digital inequity. Through a creative exercise\, participants will then collaborate to produce a video-poem which explores themes of community\, connection\, digital/physical spaces\, healing justice\, and/or equity/accessibility.

SUMMARY:Digital Rituals for Collective Climate Grief
DESCRIPTION:Alison Rich\, in collaboration with Pioneer Winter Collective\n\n\n\nAs part of our Art Iterations workshop series\, artist Allison Rich will partner with the community in Miami to increase equity to process climate grief and to access rituals for regional collective care. The Climate Rituals space will use the topics of sustainability and digital equity as critical lenses to learn about collective care practices for climate grief. \n\n\n\nThe workshop will be a space to center climate grief in Miami and to invite the creation of rituals to process climate change in digital spaces. Participants will explore reflections about perceptions of climate change in Miami\, inthe context of digital equity\, and create content to increase access to digital tools for climate grief. SUMMARY:IN ART+ ITERATIONS with Thomás Diafas
DESCRIPTION:As a participant in our IN+ ART ITERATIONS programme\, Thomás Diafas organises a two-day workshop focused on exploring digital exclusion alongside a group of individuals with and without disabilities. \n\n\n\nDuring this workshop\, Thomás will collaborate with an organisation called Liminal\, based in Athens\, Greece. The workshop will take place in Athens on the 16th and 17th of December. \n\n\n\nUsing participatory and inclusive filmmaking practice\, the aim is to provide a platform for participants to share their personal experiences of digital exclusion and digital inclusion. Thomás’s workshop aims to equip individuals with fundamental skills in filmmaking and directing\, utilising user-friendly\, non-professional cameras. \n\n\n\nAs part of the IN+ ART programme\, Thomás will employ collaborative methods inspired by the concept of play\, fostering an environment that encourages alternative approaches to traditional hierarchical structures commonly found in film production teams. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Liminal. EU\n\n\n\nSince 2016\, liminal has been promoting inclusion and equal access to arts and culture. \n\n\n\nThrough its action\, the organisation aims to contribute to a richer and more diverse creative industry fostering the equal participation of all individuals in the artistic process. Liminal focuses its activity on three main domains: \n\n\n\nInclusive Education\, Accessibility Services and Productions. \n\n\n\nLiminal Website\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Thomás Diafas\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThomás Diafas (Thessaloniki\, 1987) is a Greek-Dominican transdisciplinary artist and educator. His practice revolves around the concept of care in education and the labour market\, aiming to combat anxiety and depression. \n\n\n\nHe has devised a hybrid of performative arts called “Performing the Real\,” targeting our contemplation of the differences between real life and art. Recently\, he moved to Berlin\, where he continues his research on care practices and breathing exercises aimed at healing transgenerational traumas. SUMMARY:Pathways to Digital Equity
DESCRIPTION:Considering vulnerabilities\, available resources and access to opportunities\n\n\n\nDr Juliane Stiller & Dr Violetta Trkulja\, Genzenlos Digitale e.V \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis workshop is dedicated to digital equity and delves into various dimensions\, including digital vulnerability\, available digital resources\, and emerging digital opportunities. In the workshop\, I will present a case study focusing on an online course tailored to refugees and migrants in Germany. Through this course\, 50 participants were equipped with basic digital skills\, enabling them to navigate the German job market online and to find information on qualifications and job requirements. \n\n\n\n\nBuilding upon this case study\, we will identify the diverse sources of digital vulnerability that hinder individuals from active digital participation. Through different scenarios\, we will engage in discussions and collaboratively analyze the fundamental aspects of the digital divide. The objective is to pinpoint best practices and ideas that drive us closer to achieving digital inclusion and equity. \n\n\n\nThis workshop is designed to facilitate meaningful discussions about the complexity of the digital divide\, fostering an environment where you are encouraged to share your insights and experiences. \n\n\n\nJuliane Stiller is an information scientist and chair of the board of the non-profit organization Grenzenlos Digital e. V. in Berlin\, Germany\, which wants to promote digital skills in society. She is passionate about digital literacy education and has over 10 years of experience as a researcher in information science at academic institutions. For the past 6 years\, she has been designing curricula for digital skills training with the mission of bridging the widening digital skills gap in society and fostering digital inclusion\, especially for vulnerable groups. Her research focuses on digital skills and their evaluation\, information behaviour\, as well as interventions that increase digital resilience in society. She is currently the subproject leader of the DESIVE2 project (Understanding disinformation behaviour)\, which investigates the underlying mechanisms involved in the digital spread of allegedly scientific health-related disinformation. She also works at her own company You\, We & Digital as an advisor and researcher.

DESCRIPTION:In our IN+ART INTERATIONS workshop with Space 2\, we delved into the intricate web of pain\, technology\, and the potential influence of AI. The workshop wasl guided by guided by Dr. Alicja Pawluczuk (HYSTERA from the INCLUDE+ Network). \n\n\n\nOur focus? Unravelling the layers of pain co-construction\, assessment\, and management in the digital age. \n\n\n\nDigital Equity Under the Microscope: We probed into the ever-evolving digital technologies shaping pain management\, accentuating the external forces that contribute to the landscape of digital [in]equity \n\n\n\nAI Dynamics: We examine the role of artificial intelligence in the assessment and management of pain\, shedding light on both its promises and unforeseen consequences. \n\n\n\nFuture-making: we created artworks representing potential futures where new solutions to pain assessment\, verification\, and management are available.

SUMMARY:Workshop: ‘Doing’ Digital Inclusion. Participation! Action! Digital stuff!
DESCRIPTION:In this interactive INCLUDE+ workshop\, Irene Mackintosh\, part of the team of Mhor Collective\, will explore how digital inclusion work is at its most meaningful when it’s part of real holistic support. Drawing on her experience of supporting organisations which work directly with people currently using drugs\, and people experiencing homelessness\, she’ll talk about how\, sometimes\, support with no agenda is exactly the right agenda when it comes to digital inclusion\, and how relational approaches\, with love-as-standard\, can change everything. \n\n\n\n\nIrene Mackintosh is one of two founding managing directors of Mhor Collective\, a community interest company based in Scotland. Mhor views digital inequality as a social justice issue\, and understands how the digital space impacts on people’s human rights. Mhor Collective has worked on a significant number of projects in Scotland and beyond (including Connecting Scotland\, Get Digital Scotland\, Digital Lifelines and Geo Nova Scotia). Working with committed and passionate organisations\, Mhor co-designs\, develops\, delivers and evaluates digital inclusion projects. \n\n\n\nIrene is also particularly interested in how participatory action research approaches can help people who are marginalised and stigmatised not only to develop digital skills and understanding\, but to take more control of their lives and advocate for change.
