Professor Matt Jones has shaped the field of mobile HCI and UX through his research, expertise and publications. As an original programme advisory board member for the DE theme, he currently leads the Digital Economy CHERISH and MASI Centres, connecting the Network+ to their research and their focus post-pandemic on how to build renewal, refreshment and transformation. The Computational Foundry (Welsh Government/ EU funded) led by Matt, houses an active digital innovation community of computer science researchers at all levels, as well as industry partners; whilst the EPSRC Doctoral Training Centre on AI and Big Data (led by Matt) trains and develops emerging scholars through responsible innovation research with cross sector partners.
Matt brings to the Network+ a significant array of established networks, projects and people from across sectors, communities and levels that are local, national and international. We will connect with the DTC in relation to the secondment programme, draw on technical expertise within the Foundry and MASI centres and disseminate impactful research through the wider networks. Affiliated to the FIT Lab at Swansea, he also brings a network of HCI researchers working to build useable, enjoyable and efficient platforms, devices and services. He will lead on the tech and systems based interventions within our feasibility studies.
