AI in Everyday Life

Empowering ethnic minority women through food, skills & digital confidence

The goal is to build digital confidence and close a growing gap in AI literacy. This project will promote digital inclusion by reaching women who are often excluded from tech-focused initiatives. It will empower them to take part in a fast-moving digital society and explore how AI can be practically applied in their lives. The project will also support third-sector organisations, helping staff and service leaders become more confident in exploring AI for service delivery. In the long-term, the insights gathered can help shape scalable models for inclusion and future funding applications.

The project uses culturally rooted activities, such as cooking classes, as a gateway to AI learning. For example, ChatGPT may be used to generate or adapt recipes, easing participants into AI usage through something familiar and enjoyable. From there, the learning can expand into job-seeking support, creative expression, or family-oriented tasks. This approach makes AI feel accessible and grounded in everyday life. The project will begin with informal listening sessions to understand what participants know, fear, or hope about AI. From there, we will co-design participatory workshops based on real needs. All activities will follow ethical guidance and be shaped by ongoing feedback and collaboration.
