Learning from and with communities
The aim of this working document is to take a moment to pause and evaluate what we have done so far, mapping our collective efforts against the IN+ Principles. Our intention is to explore whether and how our principle-driven approach has generated any unique or hidden insights into how digital equity might be approached. We are trying to be realistic about the limitations of this type of work, and to reflect on which elements of our practice have been genuinely useful and why, and which elements may, in hindsight, be less realistic or in need of rethinking.
As our work enters its fourth year, we are learning that digital equity is not a technical end-point but an evolving practice. We approach digital equity as the collective ability of individuals, communities, and organisations to participate in digital life with dignity, agency, and safety, on their own terms.
