Samphire aims to enable the women it supports to become fluent in the use of digital media to prevent digital exclusion and facilitate access to essential services. This project will be led by an Asylum Inclusion Officer with lived experience of the asylum system and, consequently, an understanding of the additional barriers presented by the digital environment by those joining a new community.
Samphire will work with Dover District Council and Kent Libraries to provide a multi-pronged approach to supporting clients, helping them to communicate digitally with key agencies. For instance, participants will learn how to seek and apply for jobs, support their children’s education and enable their families to access safe, age-appropriate media, as well as how to make effective use of translation apps to support conversation.
